ATLANTA, GA — Longleaf Style magazine received four medals and two honorable mentions at the 21st annual GAMMA Awards banquet, April 29, 2010, presented by the Magazine Association of the Southeast (MAGS).
In recognition for work in 2009, Longleaf Style won:
SUMMER 2009
- SILVER, Best Profile for “Dale Lewis: Against the Grain” by Brett Buckner.
- Honorable Mention, Best Single Cover, “Roots” issue. Illustration by Lauren Castor.
FALL 2009
- SILVER, Best Essay for “Birth: A Myth” by Daniel Wallace. (Daniel is the author of the "The Big Fish." )
- BRONZE, Best Profile for “Kathryn Stockett” by Lisa Berryhill. Kathryn Stockett is author of “The Help,” soon to be a major motion picture from Dreamworks.
WINTER 2008/2009
- BRONZE, Best Photography for “Journey to the End of the World” by David and Lisa Cummings. The photography featured penguins in Antarctica.
- Honorable Mention, Best Essay for “1968-2008: Journey to a World Remade” by H. Brandt Ayers
